Polaris Military - On the same day that GM Defense announced that it had won a $214.3 million US Army contract to build new military utility vehicles (ISVs), a new prototype Polaris military vehicle was spotted in Michigan.
More specifically, our photographers caught the prototype near the Roush testing facility in Dearborn, where it was joined by another military vehicle, the Trophy Truck inspired by the Polaris Dagor A1 light combat vehicle.

The timing may be a coincidence, but the official announcement on June 4 shed light on the new Polaris military vehicle. A month ago, the American manufacturer of motorcycles, snowmobiles, ATVs and NEVs announced a new 7-year, $109 million contract with the United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) to provide the Light Tactical All Terrain Vehicle (LTATV).

The new light tactical vehicle is called the Polaris MRZR Alpha and we believe it is the vehicle you see in the picture. We say this because it shares many elements of the lightweight Polaris MRZR tactical construction. However, it has a longer wheelbase and a wider rear section that can be configured for more gear or seats.
The MRZR Alpha will be Polaris' 11th military vehicle in 12 years. According to the company's June 4 release, LTATV specifications call for two- and four-seat basic vehicles, with seven variants or "sets". The prototype spotted in Michigan appears to have a four-seat configuration, though the rear seats have yet to go up.
Polaris says the MRZR Alpha is "a new type of light tactical vehicle" because it is built on a new chassis that promises "revolutionary new capabilities". "Advances in chassis, drivetrain, suspension, and other technologies have allowed the company to deliver new levels of durability, performance and payload in the MRZR Alpha," the company said.
In addition, the new architecture of the light tactical vehicle is designed to accommodate the innovations of the near future. Since their introduction, MRZRs have been equipped with anti-drone systems. (C-UAS), weapons and high power laser systems, as well as investigation, surveillance and intelligence (ISR).
