Submarine Squadron 15 (also known as SUBRON 15) is a submarine squadron of the United States Navy based at Naval Base Guam.

The Fifteenth Submarine Squadron was established on 1 September 1963 at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. The squadron was formed to take over responsibility for nuclear submarine deterrence in the Pacific from Submarine Squadron 1, which at the time operated the Regulus cruise missile submarines. In the early dawn of May 27, 1964, Daniel Boone surfaced from Diamond Head, Hawaii, after completing a submarine crossing from the mainland, and entered Pearl Harbor, where she became the first Polaris submarine ever to enter port. Tecumseh, Ulysses S. Grant, and Stonewall Jackson were soon commissioned. At the same time, the squadron planned conversion operations, type training, and prepared for the first Polaris patrol in the Pacific, which was to begin in early 1965.

In October 1964, the permanent assignment of Commander, Submarine Squadron Fifteen, was changed from Pearl Harbor to Guam. I really wish I had an updated article for today's post, but I have a confession to make. I am exhausted. It was a very alcoholic weekend. Day after day to celebrate the 30th anniversary. I slept maybe 10 hours together. I don't have the energy to write this post.

The Cardinals always had a knack for getting players that I admired and never thought, "Oh, hey, I wish he was a Cardinal." Which is always a pleasant surprise. I admired such players as Rolen, Goldschmidt, Arenado. Even Holliday! And the Cardinals were definitely on the same wavelength. I'm glad they were smart enough to go out and make such big deals etc. And I feel like we're in for another one this season.

Dr. Howl v2.0 made this observation in a post about Scott Rolen. I interpret "I never thought about it, hey, I wish he was a Cardinal" because the likelihood of it happening was so low that it wasn't even on his radar that it could happen. Either that or it should never be there. Either way, the basic idea is that a desirable, established, and likable star player who was hard to imagine getting the tickets (although rumors about Arenado were constant until the actual trade, his contract certainly made it hard to imagine).

They seem to put more weight than most teams on what a guy's character is when deciding who to go with long term. Last year alone, they had three winners of the Roberto Clemente Award.

It's a country thing, and that adds to the fact that they all have the same feel, if you will. Why am I bringing this up?

Well, if history suggests, they'll do it again. Goldie and Arenado are recent examples, but I think they really tried to do the same with Jason Hayward. He just didn't sign a long-term contract.

So... who's the next star to join this group? Who will the Cardinals trade, for whom it is unexpected, although not unrealistic. The obvious answer, I guess, is Shohei Otani, but it doesn't seem realistic to me. The Cardinals traded two months of Rolen (he later signed an extension), one year of Goldschmidt and Hayward, and Arenado's contract after the worst season of his career. None of them were even close to the value of a 7.7 VAR player (his Steamer projection!), who can hit and throw.

So we have the criteria. On the outside, he looks like a cardinal, whose character is (seemingly) fantastic, who is a star player and whose trade value is attainable? (Technically, I believe Otani is attainable, although it seems like Jordan Walker should be included.
